It’s easy to feel overwhelmed in the world we live in. Without realizing it we can become disconnected from the world around us and lose bits of life, letting important and meaningful moments slip away.  The purpose and appreciation of life seems colorless and dull.

I believe moments are beautiful, elusive, and essential to capture to give color to life. My goal as an artist is to paint moments in time, locking them in place for the viewer to forever savor. Every home, business, and public space should be filled with art to inspire "re-mindfulness", a reminder for us to give attention to what we love, no, what is essential, in life. Unlike so many investments we make, art can freeze in time what may otherwise pass us by. Fine art captures those moments forever.

This is the heart of why I paint…

Never underestimate the value of inserting beauty into someone’s life it is the seed that hints of someone greater; it renews hope.
— - Michaelann

Surrounding oneself with art can be a much needed and gently pressed break from the rush of life. A glance at an expansive oil landscape at sunset, a portrait of an innocent child, or a fascinating abstract can return one to the now, providing clarity and perspective.  I believe beauty can even bring hope to the hopeless. My desire is to use art to encourage people to see something beautiful, take a moment, re-coup, re-set, and breath again.

Education and Experience

A BA from Montclair State University with a emphasis in print making gave Michaelann a great appreciation for design and love for the process.

After a career hop into corporate IT software training, home educating her two beautiful children, and 12 years of middle and high school art teaching, she turned her attention back to the creative life.

Michaelann has studied under nationally and internationally known artists such as Colley Whisson, Roger Dale Brown,  John Pototschnik,  John P. Lasater IV,  Jason Saunders, and Morgan Samuel Price, as well as mentorship under Marc R. Hanson.  She also constantly sets up self-challenges of self directed studies which include exercises, experiments, and studying great art writers, inspiring master artists and art history.

Michaelann paints full time in her studio outside of Atlanta, Georgia and also in Stuart, Florida, but often makes trips with her husband to paint en plein air in the Southeast US.
